Responsibilities
As a Construction Management Consultant at Peritia, you are expected to exhibit exceptional attention to detail, a meticulous approach, and an unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality work products within established deadlines.
You will perform the contract management and associated change management functions inclusive of estimating and scheduling, in collaboration with in-house counsel, and external legal advisors. This includes accurately identifying, evaluating, and documenting changes while ensuring that all change requests are thoroughly substantiated and aligned with sound contract principles and procedures. Your responsibilities will include analyzing project budgets, assessing cost impacts of potential and/or incurred changes, and ensuring that estimates are well-documented and based on industry best practices. You will work collaboratively with the team to provide accurate financial insights and ensure cost alignment with contractual requirements.
In the event of claims, you will be responsible for developing comprehensive contractual position statements supported by entitlement arguments. This requires a deep understanding of the underlying facts and issues, enabling you to provide invaluable assistance in resolving disputes efficiently and effectively.
Success in this role demands a proactive and detail-oriented approach, strong analytical skills, and a solid grasp of construction contracts and change management principles. By maintaining rigorous standards and fostering effective collaboration, you will play a vital role in upholding Peritia’s reputation for excellence in construction management consulting.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Review prime contracts and subcontracts
- Create, maintain, and analyze financial models and databases
- Prepare detailed estimates and basis of estimate
- Review project CPM schedules and assist with progress reports
- Compile detailed research, fact finding, and issue analysis
- Assist with the preparation of time impact analyses
- Review and analyze project cost control documents to quantify damages
- Analyze complex technical issues that have an impact on costs and schedules
- Perform quality control review and proper documentation of work product
Qualifications & Skills
- 10+ years of experience minimum
- Degree in Civil Engineering and/or Construction Management
- Experience in contract management
- Experience in cost estimating, with RS Means, Xactimate, Timberline, eTakeoff, Revu, or similar estimating tools
- Experience in CPM scheduling, with MS Project and Primavera P6
- Analytical skills, creative problem solving, and written communication
- Cool under pressure of quick deadlines while juggling multiple tasks
- Strong organizational skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
- Located in Houston, TX (or willing to relocate)
