Responsibilities

As a General Adjuster at Peritia, you are expected to be meticulous, demonstrate attention to detail, and be committed to delivering high-quality work products within the required time frames. In this role, you will handle large, complex, and high-value insurance claims, managing claims involving significant property damage, large-scale disasters, or intricate commercial claims. You will be required to consult with clients, visit damaged sites, collect and analyze data, and perform detailed claim assessments including scoping, quantification, and valuation. Additionally, you will review and analyze documents such as insurance policies, damage reports, and repair estimates to identify relevant issues and assist in resolving the claim.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Oversee the claim(s) process
  • Ensure all claim aspects are properly documented and managed
  • Conduct on-site inspection to assess extent of damages and scope of repairs
  • Evaluate loss reports and damage estimates provided by field appraisers and contractors
  • Coordinate with policyholders, contractors, legal advisors, and other insurance professionals
  • Assess damages and calculate the cost of repairs or replacement
  • Prepare detailed reports of findings
  • Maintain documentation for all aspects of the claim
  • Handle disputes and discrepancies in damage assessments and claim valuations
  • Perform quality control review and proper documentation of work product

Qualifications & Skills

  • ­15+ years of experience
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, and/or Construction Management
  • Analytical skills, creative problem solving, and written communication
  • Cool under pressure of quick deadlines while juggling multiple projects
  • Strong organizational skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to navigate complex claims
  • Deep understanding of construction processes and insurance principles
  • Experience in construction and construction-related insurance claims
  • Experience in construction insurance appraisal process
  • Experience in cost estimating
  • Experience in residential, commercial, hospitality, and healthcare projects
  • Experience with RS Means, Xactimate, Timberline, or similar estimating tools
  • Certifications such as CPCU, AIC, CCM, CEP or other similar certifications a plus
  • Located in Houston or Dallas preferably (or other Texas locations)
