Responsibilities
As a Project Controls Specialist at Peritia, you are expected to be meticulous, demonstrate attention to detail, and be committed to delivering high quality work products within the required time frames. You will play a pivotal role in the planning, execution, and monitoring of our construction projects.
This role is essential in facilitating effective communication among project stakeholders by regularly providing updates and gathering insights on project progress and potential issues, maintaining strict compliance with internal control standards and external, conducting regular audits of ongoing projects to confirm adherence to established project control procedures and the accuracy of data and financial forecasts, interpreting the financial implications of project decisions and helping teams understand how these decisions can impact project outcomes, and assisting in the development of recovery plans to address deviations from the schedule or budget.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and manage project schedule including but not limited to progressing, forecasting, and time impact analysis for changes
- Change Order Management including documentation and implementation to cost and schedule, ensuring that any adjustments are communicated effectively to all stakeholders
- Provide monthly updates on project schedules, highlighting progress and identifying any deviations from the planned timeline
- Prepare accurate and timely project cost reports, analyzing variances and providing forecasts to ensure projects remain within budget
- Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to identify potential risks and devise mitigation strategies to manage them proactively
- Assist in the development and refinement of project control systems, tools, and practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of project tracking and reporting
- Ensure compliance with internal and external project control requirements and standards at all stages of the project
- Coordinate the timely input and management of project data into databases and project management software
- Conduct regular project audits to verify compliance with project control procedures and accuracy of data and forecasts
- Provide support and guidance to project teams in understanding the financial implications of project decisions
- Develop and implement recovery plans for off-schedule and unanticipated schedule impacts.
Qualifications & Skills
- 5-10 years of project controls experience on capital projects. Preferable in the industrial industry, but not required
- Experience reporting, analyzing cost data including change impact, variance analysis, trending, and forecasting engineering, procurement, and construction costs
- Document Control Knowledge including coordination of Request for Information, transmittals, and notification letters
- Working knowledge of EPC contract language in relationship to scope and change management
- Advanced Excel skills, working knowledge of Sage 300, and hands-on experience of Primavera, P6
- Intermediate technical writing skills
- Technical degree in engineering or construction management preferred
- Located in Houston, Texas preferred (but not required)
- Analytical skills and creative problem solving
- Cool under pressure of quick deadlines while juggling multiple projects
- Strong organizational skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
